So, a few days ago, a colleague mentioned that Brad Feld was coming by Google for lunch. She asked me if I knew him. Without hesitation I responded "Oh yeah. We go way back."
It was a full five minutes before I realized that statement was completely untrue. In fact, I had never met Brad. However, it is funny how the mind deals with the familiarity that comes with reading someone's blog every morning. I was convinced we were pals.
Whatever the case, it was a sincere pleasure to meet Brad. I have been a fan of his writing for a long time. From educating us on the nuances of financing documents to tales of long runs , Brad covers a lot of bases. Always entertaining reading.
That said, at lunch, the Fox show 24 came up. It would be an understatement to say that Brad is a fan of the show. I admitted I hadn't seen it. Sure enough, at my desk today was a box set of the DVDs from the first season, courtesy of Brad, complete with an ominous warning about what kind of productivity I can expect in the days ahead. Thanks, Brad!
I can relate. Brad's writing leads to that familiarity when i can only claim a phone call or two as "personal" contact.

Well said, such a person should be a good sentence, or the future will be more rampant.

I read this sentence out loud to a group of engineers from my team at lunch the other day and they cracked up like I did.
