I am excited to say that I was recently invited to be an Associate Fellow at the Said School of Business at Oxford University.
Last November, I had the distinct privilege of spending a few enlightening days at Oxford as part of an event hosted by the Said School entitled "Silicon Valley Comes to Oxford." In addition to touring the wondrously historic campus, and being introduced to the unique Bodleian library by none other than Reg Carr himself, we visitors also participated in a pair of panel discussions and delivered masterclasses for the Said students.
The entire event was remarkable and deeply impressed me. In particular though, I was moved by the chance to get into the classroom with students and talk over some of the current issues Google and the Internet were facing. Instead of the customary unilateral Q&A from the audience that follows most of my speeches, I could finally turn the tables and fire queries right back. I loved the dynamism of such an exchange.
So, it was without hesitation, and with visible glee and humility that I accepted Dean Anthony Hopwood's invitation to come back to Oxford as an Associate Fellow. Of course, this does not mean I am leaving Google. No, in my role at Oxford I will dedicate a few weeks a year to being physically present there teaching a course module or two. I will also be participating again this year in the Silicon Valley Comes to Oxford event and will likely be contacting a few of you to join me and bring your unique perspective to the students as well. During the rest of the year, I look forward to being a resource to Oxonians in the Valley.
Thank you to all of the warm and genuine folks I have befriended across the Oxford and Said communities who made this possible. I am eager to see you all again soon, and can't wait to meet so many more fabulous people in the days to come. Until then, if I can be of service, please be in touch.

Congratulations. I have to say that the business opportunities for Google in a variety of markets continues to amaze me. Just a couple of weeks ago at an NSF meeting on collaborative work with computer scientists and neuroscientists, there arose a controversy on how to share and index data. Some were advocating building databases to accomplish this and investing large amounts of money to which I had a simple solution..... use html, xml and let Google index it all. It was a gift I explained.
Back on topic though. I've mentioned to you before about the applicability of Google's work in a variety of scientific disciplines from bioscience to geoscience and the physical sciences.

Great opp!
We lived about 25 minutes from Oxford for 3 years & went to church there every Sunday.
Be sure to visit the Ashmolean Museum. One small room has 3 Stradivarius instruments! And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Well said, such a person should be a good sentence, or the future will be more rampant.

I read this sentence out loud to a group of engineers from my team at lunch the other day and they cracked up like I did. It touched off such a wave of nostalgia for the first machines we all used and when we first discovered the Internet. We all felt so old and yet so lucky.

Notice that the Chinese know how to do a stimulus package, while no one in power seems to know how to do a stimulus package here in the US.

He is clear, the elegant beauty of the surrounding young talents, hang said, the talented person is put in a low, low to dust, to such a man, and because of his love for her low to dust, she was no awareness. Eating meals, she suddenly tears...The next day, she left the city, she gave him a message: I want to get married... That night, she wrote in his diary: only cloud knows stars... Only the clouds know how beautiful stars, star, she brightened her to remember when I was a child, he and she together hand in hand to see stars, she said a dust, look, the stars! He said, not stars, is in the clouds. Her third for man to have an abortion, the doctor said she couldn't have children. The house is a dust and fourteen requests... Tear stains on paper... Know when not planted a seed, the moonlight light buckles, found that most have missed...

the gray sea and the long black land;
and the startled little waves that leap
in fiery ringlets from their sleep,
as i gain the cove with pushing prow,
and quench its qpeed i’the slushy sand.
then a mile of warm sea-scented beach;
three fields to cross till a farm appears;
a tap at the pane, the quick sharp scratch
and blue spurt of a lighted match,
and a voice less loud, through its joys and fears,
than the two hearts beating each to each!
