Tracy Kidder: Mountains Beyond Mountains: Healing the World: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer
Read this to get a sense of how tough it is in Haiti and be inspired by those like Paul Farmer who are doing something about it. (****)
Tim O'Reilly: The Twitter Book
This book is the most practical and effective guide to Twitter offering advice for both rookies and avid users alike. (*****)
Lettie Teague: Educating Peter: How Anybody Can Become an (Almost) Instant Wine Expert
I have seen a lot of books attempt what this one achieves: quickly and with panache makes the reader smarter about wine. (****)
Garrison Keillor (editor): Good Poems
A gem! Overflowing with poetic bounty. Amazing. (*****)
M83: Before the Dawn Heals Us
A handful of compelling, sometimes inspiring ambient tunes, though non a consistent album. (***)
Bon Iver: For Emma, Forever Ago
This album snuck up on me. Haunting at times, but overall delightful. (****)
Barenaked Ladies: Rock Spectacle
Sticking with an old school theme here. Back before these guys sold out and were still distinctly Canadian. (****)
Pearl Jam: Ten
Someday soon I will get to write about why this is current for me again. For now, just pull it off the shelf. (*****)
